If you’re hesitant to see the latest depiction of the iconic Batman villain, you’re not alone: mainstream media has been hyping up the dangers of seeing Joker since long before its release.
And let’s be frank about this: the idea of a mass shooting taking place at a movie theater isn’t unprecedented. We’re not going to go full HuffPost and claim that it happens “all the time,” because it doesn’t. But, the threat is there. As CNN pointed out recently, a 2012 showing of another Batman movie left 12 dead. Unfortunately, dark rooms where just about everyone is disarmed both literally and figuratively can be attractive targets for deranged killers.
But the woke journalists that aim to shape our entire culture are taking this perspective a bit farther. You see, because the Joker flick starring Joaquin Phoenix follows the titular villain who is known for his overtly violent antics, the film itself is inspiring “incels” to go on a mass rampage.
For the uninitiated, “incel” (or, “involuntary celibate”) is a common go-to insult typically lobbed at lonely white men by leftists. Apparently, an isolated lifestyle that can lead to the development of extreme anti-social behavior is a playful put-down by the very people that encourage this behavior — because white men aren’t allowed to have friends anymore.
At the time of writing, no Joker screenings have seen any violence of any kind. And even if they did, putting the blame on a movie is just as ridiculous as blaming mass shootings on the music the criminal listened too. And, just incase anyone forgot, liberal journalists have tried to make that argument too. Columbine was Marilyn Manson’s fault — because his music is edgy or something.
The takeaway here is that the culture war is so obviously manufactured, and there is an entire class of people that are actively encouraging people to hate each other. It’s alarming, and it’s disturbing. People can’t even enjoy a new film without making a political statement of some kind.
