Mainstream Media Downplaying Stories on Assaults Over MAGA Hats

Attacks on people donning the iconic red Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat made famous by President Trump during his campaign are nothing new, unfortunately. However, a recent attack was a bit different, and doesn’t fit as well within the neat boundaries of the liberal agenda.

According to a Townhall article quoting a Montgomery County police statement:

“On Saturday, a man wearing a red MAGA hat was approached by two men in the 18000 block of Cottage Garden Drive in Germantown. Police said the man was harassed and asked why he was wearing the hat. The two men then struck the victim until he fell and told him to take his hat off, before taking his property and destroying it.”

The police statement went on to add the following:

“Jovan Crawford, 27, of Germantown and Scott Duncan Roberson, 25, of the District were arrested and charged with robbery, assault and related crimes.”

Another report by NBC Washington added a little more to the story, explaining that the victim was asked by the two men why he was wearing a MAGA hat, and then told the suspects he was entitled to his own view and tried to walk about from the attackers.

Although various news platforms did report on the incident, a key characteristic was left out that is a legal immigrant from Togo, and also happens to be a Trump supporter. This goes directly against the narrative of the left that insinuates anyone of color would automatically be against President Trump, especially if that person also happens to be an immigrant. However, it was proven in the past election that President Trump did better with black voters than Romney did in the previous election. Many believe he will once again have a great deal of support from people of color in 2020, despite the left’s arguments stating the opposite.

If convicted, the two men accused of attacking the victim could face 10 or more years in prison for their crimes. Crawford was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, attempted theft between $100 and $1,500, malicious destruction of property of less than $1,000 and second-degree assault. Roberson, the other assailant, is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, attempted theft between $100 and $1,500 and second-degree assault. Currently, the Germantown District’s Investigative Section is looking into the incident.

The victim of this atrocity was just out taking a walk near Cottage Garden Drive in Germantown. He was seemingly minding his own business, just enjoying the day when suddenly these men approached him, apparently enraged at nothing more than his choice of attire and what it stands for. It seems that those who ended up on the losing side of the 2016 election simply cannot manage to move on. This is abhorrent behavior and should enrage both sides of the political aisle.

Of course, the mainstream news media will likely do all they can to avoid reporting on this story. It simply doesn’t fit the picture they are trying to paint of the current president as being some sort of racist tyrant. In actuality, those immigrants who took the correct path to citizenship likely applaud all the Trump administration for being fair. They likely wonder why it should be easier on those going about getting here illegally than it was for them.

Of course, that is pure speculation. However, what is not speculation is the fact that a red MAGA hat wearing victim who also happens to be a legal immigrant isn’t likely to make the ticker tape in Times Square anytime soon.
