Time Magazine recently decided to name teenage Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg as “Person of the Year”, beating out pro-freedom protesters in Hong Kong and others many Americans feel are more worth of the prestige.
Predictably, President Donald Trump took a jab at the incident, telling the child famous for delivering a hostile speech at the United Nations to “chill” and spend time watching movies with friends.
Thunberg gained international fame by skipping school to protest government inaction on climate change. In her UN speech, which went viral, she alleged that global authorities have “stolen” her childhood by forcing her to take the position. Dissenters have suggested that the stunt is just a stage to get out of going to school, while many progressives have denounced criticism against her based on her age.
Based on Thunberg’s lasting fame, support from a major publication, and nearly every progressive pundit in the world, it’s hard to see how oppressed she is — particularly when she’s posting photos of her living it up on yachts on her Instagram profile. Clearly, leftists see her as a symbol for an issue they care about, and will afford her all the praise in the world as long as she makes public statements that they agree with.
Of course, many of these same leftists are happy to disregard the “don’t involve children” policy when it’s someone like Barron Trump.
There’s no other way to put it, climate extremists are hiding behind a child to advance their agenda, and it’s wrong. Here’s One America News with more things to keep in mind about this.
