Why Joe Biden’s Aides Want to Limit His Campaign Appearances

Former Vice President Joe Biden has said so many utterly dumb things on the campaign trail that his allies have decided to come up with a plan to avoid future gaffes. They intend to limit the number of campaign appearances that Biden makes to protect Biden from making problematic statements that could potentially destroy his presidential ambitions.

Biden’s aides are particularly interested in limiting late afternoon and evening appearances by the former Vice President, as Biden tends to make dumb comments late in the day due to tiredness or plain out old age. It’s not hard to see why given the fact that Biden is turning 77 years old in November. Aside from Sen. Bernie Sanders, he is the oldest candidate in the race, and would be the oldest person ever elected president should he win the 2020 general election.

It’s not hard to see why former VP Joe Biden’s aides and allies are concerned about his recent statements. He has said so many ridiculous things in the last few weeks that it’s almost hard to keep up.

Biden recently told a crowd that he believes in “truth” rather than “facts.” That very same day, he told a crowd in Iowa that “poor kids are just as bright as white kids.” Just a couple days later, he stated that he was Vice President when the Parkland shooting occurred, seemingly forgetting the fact that the shooting occurred more than a year after he left office.

Other gaffes include confusing former UK Prime Minister Theresa May with 1980s UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. He has also stated that biofuels could be used to power steamships. What is more, there are plenty of unbelievable past comments that would give voters pause if the Republicans were to publicize them. The former Vice President once told voters that then-Senator Barack Obama was the first mainstream African-American to be “clean, bright, articulate and nice looking.” He asked a Missouri state senator to stand without noticing the obvious fact that the senator, who is paraplegic, was unable to do so.

Naturally, President Donald Trump noticed the former Vice President’s numerous recent gaffes and made it a point to note that Biden doesn’t seem to be playing with a full deck. However, the president isn’t the only one who wonders about former VP Joe Biden’s mental capabilities.

Democratic strategist Basil Smikle recently told news media outlets that Joe Biden’s recent gaffes are causing voters who are already undecided about the former VP a reason to switch over to rising candidates such as Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Cory Booker. The statement is an odd one, given the fact that all recent polls show the former Vice-President with a ten to fifteen point lead over Sen. Warren, who is currently polling in second or third place in different polls. Sen. Booker doesn’t poll higher than 4% in any of last week’s polls.

One almost has to wonder if the Democratic Party is starting to realize that Biden doesn’t have what it takes to take on President Trump next year, and so is beginning to search for an alternative.
